  • Hengameh Akhavan (1955 - ) is a prominent Iranian female singer. She was born in Fuman, which is in the Gīlān Province of Iran, and is the youngest child of her family. Her whole family is blessed with beautiful singing voices, but only Hengameh became a professional singer. She started singing at the age of ten. She learned "Avaz-e Dashti" (One of the modes in Iranian modal system of music) from her father. Hengameh and her brother were also members of their school singing group.

    Her father used to tell her about Ghamar and Ruhangiz (preeminent female Iranian female singers) and he would always encourage her to sing. Hengameh admired Ghamar not only for her beautiful singing voice but also for her benevolence.

    After finishing elementary school, Hengameh went to Tehran to visit her sister and other relatives. During her stay, Hengameh was encouraged by her sister and brother-in-law to stay in Tehran to continue her musical training and studies. She agreed to this and stayed in Tehran.

    Hengameh auditioned for the Iranian national radio to become a singer. She sent in a recording of her singing one of the compositions of Ostad (master) Tajvidi and the melodies that her father had taught her in a cassette. The selection panel consisted of five members, all of whom we

    Hengameh Ghaziani (Persian: هنگامه قاضیانی; born 20 May 1970) is an Iranian former actress. She has received various accolades, including two Crystal Simorgh, a Hafez Award and an Iran Cinema Celebration Award.

    She was arrested by the Iranian government in November 2022 during Mahsa Amini protests for publicly supporting the protesters.

    Hengameh Ghaziani was born on 20 May 1970 in Mashhad, Iran.

    She has a BA in Human-Economic Geography from Islamic Azad University in Mashhad and Shahre-Rey, and has also studied Western Philosophy at San Francisco University.

    Career

    Her acting career began in 2000 when she was cast in the movie Twilight, directed by Hassan Hedayt. Her first appearance on the theatre stage was in the play Like blood for steak which was produced by Leev theatre group.

    Ghaziani translated Wilcomb E. Washburn's Red Man's Land/White Man's Law, a history book about the status of Native American.[1] In 2015 she started a band with herself as the singer, which performed in Vahdat Hall.

    She has received two Crystal Simorgh awards for Best Actress at the Fajr International Film Festival, in 2007 for As Simple as That[2] and in 2011 for Days of Life.[3]
