    Gregory William Pappas, age 55, of Abingdon, Maryland passed away on February 13, 2021. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Basil and Linda (Gibbons) Pappas. Greg was a graduate of North Harford High School, Loyola University of Maryland, and University of Baltimore. He recently celebrated 35 years of service with McCormick & Company, Inc.

    Greg and his loving wife of 28 years, Nancy (Eberhardt) Pappas, devoted themselves to raising their three wonderful sons. Their family enjoyed outdoor activities, sports, music, family game nights, movie nights, vacations together and multi-family social gatherings. They are members of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Bel Air.

    Greg had a passion for sports. He played softball, basketball, golf and coached youth sports. He relished family ski trips, bike rides with Nancy, fishing and evening kayaking with the family dog on the Bush River.     You can’t see the stones from the road. I park at the Doty Building, where Ted Pappas first opened his solo offices in his Uncle John’s building in 1968, then walk a block north on Washington Street. I pass one of the closed ramps to the Isaiah D. Hart Bridge, each ramp scheduled for demolition, and walk east on Monroe Street.

    This portion of Downtown still retains ghost shadows of its original neighborhood feel.
